The location is just perfect. A step away from the Rambla and the Gothic quarter, 30min walking from the Sagrada familla, 5 min away from Place de la Catalunya. The room (junior suite) was roomy, nicely decorated with a modern style. Nice use of wood on the floor to make it more cozy. It was a bit pricey for the overall service offered (keep reading)

Apart from the location, for the rest there is big way to improve. My review is based on the expectations for a 5* boutique hotel which is (to us) having a wonderful/"going the next mile" customer experience. In our opinion is still a "wanna be" but far from being at the level the price suggests. Firstly, use of the space is odd. The hotel is small with no common space/area. Wellness area is juts no existing (tiny gym and sauna for 2). Entering straight on the right you find a desk (which you expect to be the reception). It happened to be only the concierge, so now check-in over there. We found out after 5 minutes of waiting there while a member of the staff was occupied with other customers. Reception is just upstairs. So we go there and we wait for another 10 minutes till the couple before us finishes with check-in (one staff representative only for check-in). While we wait, we have been asked if we wanted something to drink. I asked for a coffee, and was replied coffee is not possible. It is only water or cava. Really?? Is that so hard to get a coffee at the bar? Another odd policy, you pay on arrival. It did not happen often to me in 5* hotels to pay the all staying in advance. I have insisted to pay at the check-out but the staff representative cut short saying that was the hotel policy and we had to comply with it .Staff, we found the staff mostly under-trained for an hotel at this level. Ranging from the command of English, to the way they speak to customers, to the way they behave. Clearly under-staffed for breakfast, they reply is not their fault if service is slow or tables are not clean since it is just 3 of them. Do the customer really need to know that? On our second day, I had to go and ask downstairs to make our room since was still undone (it was 4PM and we have been away most of the day). All in all, if you are also looking for the perfect 5* experience, look for something else.
