Circa 1760. Newport, during the 18th century, was one of the busiest harbors in the Colonies. A shipping merchant, Colonel Francis Malbone, built the historic portion of this home, which includes nine of our 18 guest rooms. The newer addition was completed in 1996. The Francis Malbone House is also a proud recipient of the 1997 5 Star Diamond Award. The only inn in Newport to have this recognition. Fine furnishings fill the rooms, most of which offer a fireplace. Twelve rooms include a Jacuzzi tub. Our location, on the harborfront, is another wonderful feature. The breakfasts, heralded by Bon Appetit, include entrees such as pecan waffles with maple whipped cream or eggs Benedict with a roasted red pepper hollandaise.
