Positiv:: Die ganze Quinta, mit ihre liebevollen Einrichtung und sehr fürsorglichen Hausbesitzer. Das Frühstück ist top, es hat an nichts gefehlt, sonnst wurde es besorgt. Sehr aufmerksames Personal. Täglich frisches Obst und Wasser auf den Zimmer. Sehr schöner Pool zwischen Orangen und Zitronenbäumen. Sehr saubere Anlage. Sra. D. Rosa und Luís Alberto, sowie Manuela und Fátima tuen alles für das Wohlbefinden ihre Gäste.

Positiv:: Eine sehr schöne, gepflegte Quinta mit einem großen, sauberen Pool. Sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Gastgeber, die sich um alles kümmern und trotzdem sehr unaufdringlich sind. Wunderbares Frühstück -Obst, tolles Brot, Kuchen - individuell angerichtet.

Positiv:: Luis and Rosa were a delight to meet up with and could not have been more kind. It was a privilege to spend time with them both and their 2 helpful staff at the Quinta, or small farm. The peaceful walk around the garden, the pool the lovely breakfasts will stay in our minds for some time. One of the most lovely places we have stayed.

Positiv:: This is the most amazing, beautiful place to stay. Wisteria-covered paths through old olive groves, citrus orchards and vineyards. Very clean, beautiful rooms and a big, delicious breakfast with fresh flowers in the napkins. A gorgeous pool to cool off in. Rosa and Alberto are kind and helpful. A wonderful find!
Negativ:: The property is a little hard to find, but private and secluded, so the location is perfect.

Positiv:: Our host Rosa and her son were truly AMAZING. incredibly friendly ,and their 130+ yr old property is a sheer delight. Modernised where it matters- eg bathroom, but the old-world charm well preserved. The breakfast was THE BEST we have had on our month long trip thru Portugal. Parking is on site of this big property, lots of travel advice gladly given. BIG APPLAUD- this is tops !!!!

Positiv:: I have stopped at many different hotels over the last thirty years, I can honestly say this was the BEST experience I have ever had. The hospitality and personal touch shown by Rosa and her son Alberto went way beyond what one would expect. The grounds of the former farmhouse including the orange grove and the beautiful flowers provide a perfect welcome, then you have Rosa's home cooking, a breakfast from heaven all hand crafted by Rosa, with the freshly squeezed orange, meats and cheeses, home baked cake/tart, fresh fruit, all presented to 5 star quality. The rooms are immaculate, and outdoor the swimming pool was a welcome shield from the sun. Despite our requirement for a 5.30am departure on our final day, Rosa and Alberta were up to provide us with our full breakfast. Location wise, a 6km jaunt from the impressive Viana do Castello, where a visit to the 'Primavera Restaurant' is a must for lunch.

Positiv:: It was overall a fantastic stay. Alberto and Rosa were attentive hosts, and every breakfast was a little feast! Lots of attention to detail, warmth and a charming location make la Quinta do Valle do Monte a very special retreat for couples or families.

Positiv:: The property is beautiful and very old works Portugal. Nicely maintained and decorated. The location was close to Viana and beaches. Quiet, gated,scenic. The breakfasts were delicious with eggs , meats, cheeses, great breads, fresh juice. Dona Rosa and her son were more than gratitude hosts. I felt as if I was visiting family. Loved it!

Positiv:: A lovely old style house with comfortable rooms, gardenand orchards and a good sized pool. Our hosts could not have been kinder making us very welcome with lovely eat treats and a great breakfast. We had to leave very early to catch a plane and they provided a packed breakfast for us to take. This is a veritable oasis in the outer reaches of the town with good road access in all directions and a 10 -15 minute drive to the beach, and town. There is a restaurant/ bar serving food and 2 large supermarkets within a 5 minute walk.
Negativ:: The location is fine if you have a car and are happy to drive mostly everywhere including further up the valley for some peaceful walks but there is nowhere for pleasant evening strolls directly from the house.

Positiv:: The Quinta is set in beautiful gardens with a lovely swimming pool, fountains, and places to relax. Our ‘casa’ was luxurious and had every convenience.
Negativ:: Absolutely nothing. You’re best to have a car in this area of Portugal but we managed 3 days without one. It’s short bus or taxi to Viana. Breakfast was delicious each morning, although perhaps a slightly earlier start than 9am. But you get into the relaxing swing of things.

Positiv:: HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property! Lovely grounds, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable and spacious room, fun pool table and relaxing area. It is close to the beach, close to small towns nearby, and Kira the black lab is extremely friendly and welcoming.
Negativ:: The only complaint we have for the entire stay was the beds were very firm, but the rest of the property makes up for it.

Positiv:: The hostess’s welcome is kind and VERY (too?) detailed, but a tad too directive and overbearing. At times it makes you feel like a little child who needs to be taught house rules. Too much content is imparted upon you, whether you find it useful or need it at all in the first place. The room we had was a “suite” and thus featured a little anteroom with a kitchenette hidden in a large closet. The bedroom itself was nice, spacious and well appointed, although in that category, the bed could have been at least queen size —and wasn’t. The real downside is that there was NO WINDOW! The walk-in door was glass but needed to be curtained against the heat of the blazing afternoon sun (and the passing other guests!), and there was a minuscule vasistas around the walkway to the bathroom, but no window at all in the bedroom itself, which made it cavernous and claustrophobic. The room was not in the main building. Not one free power wall socket in sight! Don’t those hoteliers know that their guests have smartphones, tablets, cameras, portable computers, and all manners of assorted electrical appliances that need regular recharging? I had to unplug a lamp in the anteroom to recharge our things. No air conditioning, except for a very small unit in the bathroom, useless to cool the bedroom. The only appliance available was one of those column-type fans that worked more or less OK, except that it was on a 2-hour timer that forced me to get up several times during the night to get it started again! Unacceptable in that price range. The WiFi worked... until it went down, and couldn’t be restarted until the morning. You must avoid this place if you depend on a fast WiFi connection, for example for work purposes. (Read rest of review below)
Negativ:: The bathroom was good and in general well provided, but there are no red and blue markings on the taps, so you don’t know which way is hot and you’re kept wondering for quite a while as hot water takes that long to come on... Shower products are in quantities adequate, yet not overly generous, but strangely only shampoo and a strange little plastic bottle labeled “body lotion”... but no obvious shower gel in sight! Had to use an old one taken from previous hotel. Finally, the breakfast is good but nothing to really write home about as the hostess seemed to think: for example, no smoked salmon or other fish, eggs scrambled but not otherwise cooked, etc. AND you cannot have it before 9am, which is again unacceptable for an establishment in that price range: not all guests are on vacation, and even those who are may need to have an early start now and then! One last word to the wise: hotel owners and managers sometimes reply to guest advice and critique, and sometimes quite sharply. Remember then that I have no vested interest in saying good or not so good things about the places I stay at, while owners and managers do have a vested interest in selling you theirs products and services...

Positiv:: Check-in sehr korrekt, man nahm sich Zeit für uns, erklärte uns die Stadt, gab uns gute Infos für den Weg, druckte uns Pläne aus und trug unsere Rucksäcke aufs Zimmer. Dieses sehr schön, komfortabel, modern und sauber. Frühstück außerordentlich gut. Das ganze Personal außerordentlich freundlich. Besonderen Dank an den Nachtportier, der uns noch Empfehlungen gab, als wir sehr spät abends eine Kleinigkeit essen wollten.
Negativ:: Es war perfekt. Schade, wir wären gerne länger geblieben.

Sehr netter Empfang; alle sprechen Englisch - Zimmer war ein Traum mit Balkon und herrlichem Ausblick. Frühstück einfach, aber alles was man braucht. Zentrale Lage - 5 min vom Bahnhof. Komme auf jeden Fall wieder!

Positiv:: The room was spacious with a small sitting area, very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a selection of food to suit most tastes. The location was good for visiting various places. We left the car at the hotel secure car park and travelled by train to Porto and Viana do Castell. The small stion is five minutes walk from the hotel, with very helpful staff.
Negativ:: You need to let the reception know your approximate time of arrival in order to have the gates open. After the first time you have your own key.

Negativ:: It was very hot and the rooms didn't have aircondition. The hotel has a lot of stairs everywhere -inside and out (also to the pool) - but no railings to hold on to, which was a problem for my mother. On the webpage it says that its handicap friendly. This is really not true, eventhough the host was kind to change my parents room to one on the ground floor.

Positiv:: Pretty decent buffet breakfast; they will even get you a latte (meia de leite) at no extra charge if you ask - the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The city views are great - when it's not foggy. The pool area is worth checking out as it also has a good view. Very calm at night, which is great for sleeping. The beds were firm but comfortable. The Pousada experience overall was pretty good, I can't stress enough how nice the staff was. Taxi driver are more than happy to recommend great places to eat in and around town.
Negativ:: Unless you have a car, getting from the hotel to the city centre and vice-versa can take a while. By taxi if you want to get around quick. Positiv:: It's a very beautiful and quiet setting, the bed is probably one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
Negativ:: The breakfast was good, but small quantity. If you happen to not like one of the items then you'll be hungry. Exzample, 2 very thin slices of cheese per person, one thin slice of ham and 1 small slice of marmalade. If you do'nt like any of these items (I don't like ham) so I was stuck with 2 minute slices of cheese and a tiny bit of marmalade. While we were there the internet did not work at any time, and the tv didn't work either, so it wasn't very possible to just chill out to watch a film in the end of a sightseeing day. We requested if there were some dvds we could watch but the only solution we were given was to hang out on the common room. We had taken a weekend to hang out with each other and chill so it wasn't an option for us. On the last day, there was no electricity in our flat, so we couldn't shower. When checking the lectrical board it became apparent that the wiring was old and it seemed a bit unsafe. None of these things are the end of the world, but for the price they charge, I would expect a little bit more professionalism.

Jeden Morgen frische Orangen, Frühstück kommt im Korb ans Appartment. Gute Klimaanlage. Pool mit Salzwasser in toller Umgebung etwas abseits des Wohnhauses. Das gesamte Anwesen ist top gepflegt.

Positiv:: Die Unterkunft liegt in einem parkähnlichen Garten, ruhig und hübsch anzusehen. Man kann entspannt am Pool im Garten liegen, auch Schirme stehen bereit. Es gibt zwar nur 5 Liegen, aber meist genügt es. Die größeren Appartements haben einen kleinen Sitzbereich, so dass man sich auch am Abend gut aufhalten kann. Nette Chefin, tolle Tipps, gutes Frühstück Die kleinen Zimmer dagegen sind maximal zum Schlafen akzeptabel.
Negativ:: Zunächst wurden wir in einem Zimmer untergebracht: nur kleines Oberlicht als Fenster, ein alter Kühlschrank mit Wasserkocher stellte die Küchenzeile dar. Klein, unangenehm riechend und angefaultes Obst. Kurze Zeit später kam die Chefin des Hauses. Sie ist sehr nett, versprach besseres Zimmer für den Folgetag, gab nette Tipps Schade ist, dass die Fotos von der Villa am Eingang gemacht wurden, die Unterkünfte aber im hinteren Garten und in den Häusern dort sind. Auch, dass man nicht auf der Terrasse frühstücken kann, ist schade.

Als wir am 3. auch mal abends duschen wollten, wurde durch zwei Handwerker das Problem nach ca 30 Minuten behoben, dafür war dann am anderen Morgen das Wasser wieder kalt.

Positiv:: The location was definitely the best part of this hotel - it is a quick walk from the train station (which is in a lovely part of town itself) and located within the bounds of the medieval center of town. There are lots of sights, museums, and restaurants in the area. It's about a 20-minute walk to Praia Norte, but it's an easy walk so we didn't mind. The table service during breakfast was also very nice - felt like being waited on in a restaurant!
Negativ:: We left the window open overnight and the street cleaners woke us up - not the hotel's fault, but just something to be mindful of if your room overlooks the straight as ours did.

Positiv:: Der Empfang, also das Personal, war freundlich und nett! Das Hotel an sich macht einen gepflegten, sauberen und neuwertigen Eindruck. Es liegt Zentral und die Einrichtung ist modern sowie innen sehr schön gestaltet. Die Räumlichkeiten (das Hotel an sich und das Zimmer im speziellen) waren absolut sauber! Ich habe schon in schlechteren 4 Sterne Hotels übernachtet! Unser Zimmer lag zwar nach vorne zur Straße hin im ersten Stock, was aber bei geschlossenen Fenstern und dank Klimaanlage, kein Problem war, da man so gut wie keine Außen- bzw. Verkehrsgeräusche mehr hört. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis hat stimmt, wir waren zufrieden. Das Frühstück war so weit ganz ok und es groß zu kritisieren wäre übertrieben, aber nichtsdestotrotz besteht in diesem Punkt noch Luft nach oben!
Negativ:: Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Flussblick gebucht, aber der Flussblick war nur mit sehr viel Geschick und Kreativität zu realisieren, da man realistisch gesehen aus dem Zimmer heraus auf Bäume und gegenüberliegende Gebäude blickt zwischen denen man ein kleines Stück vom Fluss erkennen kann. IMHO ist das kein Flussblick, aber da wir alles in Allem mit dem Hotel zufrieden waren, wollten wir für die eine Nacht auch nicht darüber meckern. Und der Stadtblick ist auch mehr als schön beschrieben ;-) In den Suiten, ganz oben, mag das anders aussehen, aber in den "normalen" Zimmern stimmt die Beschreibung so nicht! Das Hotel ist, wie ich vorher schon beschrieben habe sauber und gut, aber wer hier ein Zimmer bucht, nur des Stadt- oder Flussblickes wegen, wird enttäuscht werden!

Negativ:: There was a lack of communication with us of how the spa had to be used. We headed on the first day to the spa after sleeping on the worst bed ever and being nearly kicked out of the breakfast for getting there 5 minutes before closing time, to relax and forget everything that had happened until that moment. So we headed down to the spa and we were told we needed caps but there where none in the room so we had to buy them for 5€ each that couldn’t be charged to the room or payed with credit card so we had to go to the room. We head down buy the caps and head in to be stoped for not wearing a bathrobe ( wasn’t wearing it since it’s two or three sizes small, I’m a big guy) I explain my problem to what I’m told that that’s not there problem and that I need it. Second time I head to the room I put the bathrobe that dosnt close and head down, this time we are allowed to get throgh the changing rooms to the spa, where we are stoped for not wearing slippers (normal) we ask for some and they tell us that we have them in the room (not true) we tell them that we don’t have them and that they should give us the slippers, long and behold they tell us that we can’t get in and that we should go to reception! Evidently I wasn’t pleased at all and decided I wasn’t going to the spa any longer! Went to reception to ask for explanation and some kind of compensation (bear in mind this is the first day, not the best start) I tell the receptionist that I don’t need her to say anything at the time but that I want to talk to the manager. After 4 days I hadn’t received any response from the manager or anyone for that matter and with the worst backache from the bed we decided we where leaving the hotel 3 days before original check out. We asked for a refund for the last 3 days explaining why we were leaving and the receptionist basically sent us on our way with nothing and giving us a bill, not even compensating 50€ in extra charges.

Positiv:: Spacious rooms and overall good facilities, most of the staff extremely kind and trying to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Negativ:: We traveled as a family of 3 (2 adults + 1 toddler) and requested an extra bed beforehand which was confirmed by the hotel. For our surprise the toddler bed had no mattress only a big blanket folded and meant to be used as mattress. Situation was immediately reported to the staff but it took 2 hours to have it solved. On top of this, shift manager did not speak a word of English which made communication almost impossible.

Parkplätze sind ums Hotel knapp vor dem Hotel sind sie frei, in der Tiefgarage sind die Parkplätze kostenpflichtig, was soll das denn.
