Negativ: We called corporate office to extend reservation, and they said we were all set. We had our doubts because the girl my boyfriend talked to seemed confused.
When we called the local drop off location, the next day. they said they had no extension on file and charged us a late fee.
Positiv: The staff upon pickup were very good. The car was clean and in good condition.Negativ: Returning was slow as there was only one employee who was staffing the desk, washing cars, and moving cars around the lot. This seems unfair both on the employee and customers waiting.
Unable to rent carNegativ: I was not made aware that a credit card was needed for rentals nor that a soft credit report would be pulled.
Positiv: Very nice proprietor. Very nice car (upgrade from what I'd reserved). Helpful orienting me to car controls.Negativ: Nothing I didn't like but I wish they didn't close so early on Saturday. Had to pay for an extra day because I couldn't get back from my trip by 1:00 PM and there was no option to leave the car and the keys.

Negativ: I reserved a car. When I showed up, I was told they were out of cars. When I asked for help - e.g., can you find me another car in the area? - I was basically told to buzz off. In the end, I had to go to the Oakland airport to find a car, wasted three hours, and paid an additional $140 because THEY DIDN'T SAVE ME THE CAR I RESERVED.

Weren't able to pick up at SFO Negativ: It's partially my fault. I thought I rented a car at SFO but when I got there the confirmation said they had a car for me at Berekley :-(. I know I want to pick it up at SFO so I don't know how it happened. All I can say is your website is not clear or too confusion. Since you didn't have any car available at SFO, I had to rented it from another car rental.

Great car but poor customer servicePositiv: The vehicle we ended up with was perfect for a 6 days, 5 state road trip with 2 kids. Negativ: The pick up and drop off was very time consuming due to customer service issues. I will never rent a car from Hertz again.

I still have not received my money back my trip was interfered with I am very disappointed with my rental from Hertz. And I want my money back! Negativ: I reserved my car I called the dealership to make sure they take debit cards, I was told that if I added my AAA membership I would be able to use my debit card. I added my AAA membership to my reservation I went to pick up my rental and was told I could not use my debit card. Even though hurts is already charged my debit card they did not let me continue the rental I had called the day before . I still have not received my money back my trip was interfered with I am very disappointed with my rental from Hertz. And I want my money back

Poor service and lack of apologyNegativ: I had booked a car for 6pm and picked it up at 6:05. The team was there but leaving and did not do anything to help or apologisefor the situation. I had to go next morning at 6am to the Hertz shop at the airport to make it in time for my meeting and was charged a lot more than the Kayak offer. The rental team at the Herz shop there did not explain that I was prepaying for petrol and so I lost USD 45 for petrol. I also asked for a GPS and paid USD 16 for a GPS that was very slow and lacking in detail, so I had to take several detours. All in all a poor experience and it was not helped by unfriendly and defensive Hertz employees who did not apologize or attempt to remedy the situation.
Not the car I asked for onlineNegativ: I got a deal online and booked a minivan. When I got there they switched and baited me and since I was out of time I had to get an SUV which was much more expensive.

Positiv: Not one thing - see what I didn't likeNegativ: We didn't get to rent the vehicle because it wasn't clear at all that this particular SFO airport Hertz rental center wasn't at the airport, even though it was listed on Airport Rd or Drive. Only when looking at the fine print re hours of 8 to 6PM did I see this nasty detail, and realize that this wasn't at the airport and our flight wasn't going to get us there in time to pick the car up. This FORCED us to go to Uber and then a cab ride to come back to the airport at the end of our trip. This only available Hertz car was $300 higher than the deal I'd committed to. This was without a doubt the worst Kayak experience I've had in terms of expense and not having a vehicle when we really needed one -Roger
Positiv: nothing, i did not use them.Negativ: I had to use a different company because hertz was not able to process my payment even though i tried two different cards. They did not have a chip reader or a keyboard to type my card number in. Unfriendly and unhelpful and downright rude. It threw off the beginning of my trip i was excited for because i had to leave and then go to the Oakland airport. Will never use Hertz again.
