My reservation was sent to the wrong location Negativ: They were all sold out of cars and I had to walk to another facility to book another reservation.
Poor Customer ServiceNegativ: I wanted to extend my rental. The credit card I had on file was lost, and discontinued. They would not take a new credit card over the phone. They said this was for my own protection, and prevents fraudulent car rentals. However the car has already been rented... I had already proven my identity when I picked it up. I was not renting a new car. Unless someone had stolen my car, credit card, and was conscientious enough to call Alamo to extend the rental... there is no reason to worry about fraud. Additionally other large companies take credit card information over the phone. To say it is not a secure method is lazy, and hinders Alamo from providing a better customer experience. The customer service rep agreed that the policy did not make sense in my case, but that she could do nothing about it, it was simply "the policy." To me, then, that is the definition of bad policy. I was forced to return to the airport, out of my way, to prove for the second time I am who I am. Just a terrible customer service experience. I will not be renting with Alamo or affiliated Alamo brands in the future.
Positiv: Easy pick up and drop off as well as excellent value.
Negativ: I had to pay two times for the insurance. At the end, it cost me around $60 a day, where it should have cost me only $35 per day. Just make sure that they will not charge you twice for the insurance!!

Great customer service!Positiv: When I made my car rental and flight reservations, I did not realize that they is a John Wayne and a Bob Hope airports, one in Burbank and other in Orange County. So I mixed both up!
I landed in John Wayne airport to get my car rental and did not realize it was in Burbank, The gentleman at the desk so helpful and understanding, he tried his best to honor my car rental rate which was for Burbank and not Orange County.
I was able to return the car at Burbank and Alamo honored the same rate without any additional fees.
I NEVER, write comments/feedbacks, but I have so very blown away at the level of service I received from Alamo car rental I had to.
Despite my oversight with the wrong locations, most everyone I spoke with and or interacted with was so helpful, friendly and professional.
Please look into the names of this people, as they deserve recognition.

Finally she reluctantly adjusted and credited me back to my card, then handed me a new receipt and said "here".
She did not ruin my awesome experience I had with Alamo, but she should definitely be looked into.
Troubles All AroundPositiv: * The car was clean and filled with gas.Negativ: * Finding the car rental place at Burbank Airport if you are not coming in for a flight is near impossible! My husband and I went around twice before we found out that there was no parking for non-rental cars and he had to drop me off at the Alamo rental place and then leave. The signs (or lack of them) made getting to my rental place on time stressful and we ended up being 15 minutes late.
*Once we got onto the freeway, the car started making the high pitch sound from the window at 70 mph. We were going the speed of traffic to Chico on the 5 freeway and this loud high pitch sound made me want to turn on the radio and set it to high to drown out the sound. There must be a seal broken or something on the window but what puzzled me is that the car was relatively new with only 13, 500 miles. Need less to say, the 7 hours there and back to Chico was a very noisy annoying drive.
* When we were on the streets of Chico, the car made a ratting sound. It sounded like it was on the dashboard and the rattling continue for the whole trip when the car was driven at low speeds (20 - 40 mph).

Car wasn't thoroughly checked throughNegativ: Few things:
1. Rear view mirror was removed and was placed in the back of the car. I lost 45 mins of my day trip looking for the missing mirror and eventually drove over to the Avis desk to help reinstall it back to the center of the window.
2. There was some weird paste-like substance on the little side compartment on the drivers door. Gross.

TerribleNegativ: I made a car rental reservation for a convention I needed to attend over the weekend. I made the reservation online with my debit card and even called to make sure everything was ok and ready to go. Once I arrived to pick up the car In time to get to my engagement on schedule they refused to rent me the car because I did not have a returning flight and I was using a visa debit card. The same card that I used to make the reservation. Now when I talked to them on the phone they knew that I was local and was not flying in or out and made no mention of needing to have a credit card or a returning flight. When I asked to talk to the manager Brandy her or her team showed no signs of sympathy or willingness to help at all. Mind You I had 3 other people counting on me to pick them up. After me asking her any and all questions I could think of to resolve the issue and get on the road on time and expressing how unacceptable this was and how she was providing terrible customer service the only suggestion she made was for me to call another rental locations and see if they could help me there. I should have never been allowed to make a reservation with a card that they wouldn't accept or they should clearly state at the time of making the reservation that this card will only be valid for the reservation and a credit card will be needed at the time of pick up. $40 in lyft rides back and fourth and a lot of time wasted later I left without a car and no solutions or help from the team at Burbank Budget Rentals.

When I arrived at the Dollar desk to pick up the car, the agent behind the counter was unsure if they would have any in stock that day due to frequent/preferred Dollar customers getting priority on those. So I walked around the lot for an hour and checked out the other options while the agent tried to see if I could take an SUV. It turned out I had two options - pay more for a larger SUV class, or take a minivan for less money. I thought I needed an SUV for my trip, but after checking out the vans, I opted for one of them, and it worked fine for my purposes. However, I do think that if a customer makes a reservation far in advance for a certain type of vehicle, it's good practice for the company to honor that reservation. Lacking that, Dollar has proven unworthy of their customers' trust, and I will not rent from them again.

No car!Negativ: If I could give negative 5 stars I would! I got to the counter and was told they had no cars. I was offered no solution and the counter clerk was very unapologetic, almost snarky. I called customer service and same thing! Just sorry you're sol! Awful.
No cars Positiv: The agent was nice. Negativ: They had no cars available when we arrived and had no idea when one would become available. We were not notified of this prior to arriving. We ended up canceling our reservation and renting one booth over at fox rental cars.

1) Wait for at least 30 minutes or more to see if any thing will be available. There was no guarantee of the car size, and I might have to take a compact car instead of a full-size one that I reserved.
2) Go and rent from a somewhere else.
After waiting for about 25 minutes, I decided to check the next rental counter, FOX, and was immediately given a beautiful full-size car for $39/day.
One odd thing though, on the way to pickup my rental, I noticed several cars parked idly in the Dollar lot :(((.

The car drove well and was easy to return.Negativ: The pickup of the vehicle was a confusing experience. The attendant kept trying to up-sell us all her products under the guise of it being the only option. I questioned the charges each time and ended up walking away only paying the amount at original booking, although it did take 3 goes and 25 minutes. I was unsure if she was being unethical or just didn't know what she was doing.
The inside of the vehicle was not clean. There was no dust/dirt although there were luggage wheel track stains on the back seat and another stain on the centre console.

Never using Hertz again Positiv: They were fair and waived the fee after some stress and unhappy customers.Negativ: Then came the drop off...they are closed Sundays so had to drop it off at Burbank airport. They looked at the car, handed us a bill for $100 and walked away with no explanation. Not even exaggerating. We looked at it and were confused what this $100 meant as we paid for the rental already. Turns out the place where we picked up did 2 deceitful things. 1) they lied about how much gas was in the car at pick up (THANK GOODNESS I TOOK A PICTURE OF THE GAS GAUGE) 2) they claimed we declined to choose to fill the gas tank and for them to do it. So this $100 was for gas. We showed them a picture of the gas gauge that we took when we picked it up. They said that was not what was written on the paper and corrected the mistake. They said we now owe $50. We were only a quarter tank off and refused to pay that much. We asked if we can take the car and get it filled that quarter tank we were short ( would cost us about 15 bucks). They said we could not because the car was already brought back. Now, they tried to do something nice and let it slide this time but told us next time to make sure to bring the tank of gas filled the same way we picked it up. Instead of standing there and listening to me thank him and tell him how much I appreciate that, the manager just walked away from me while I was talking. I was trying to tell him that he had just meet up for the long wait that occurred when we went to pick up our car. Very very poor customer service. I've never rented a car on my own. It's always been someone else doing the renting. Not a good first experience. I will not be using Hertz I'm the future.

Positiv: Getting the car itself was pretty fast once I got to the Hertz office--the lady at the front desk was very kind and processed me quickly. After that it was a self-service type of deal, which I didn't realize going into it (meaning I had to go find my car, the key was inside, I had to inspect it without detailed instructions, etc.). It was all relatively self explanatory, though.Negativ: My biggest complaint is the car I actually got. I'm pretty sure I specified a number of times that I wanted something small, didn't really need a navigation system, and what did I get? An SUV with a navigation system. I guess all the other small cars were taken? At the end I didn't mind too much, but like why ask someone what they want when you're going to give them whatever you have lying around???
Positiv: The car was reliable, everything was in working order. Negativ: First, this car rental was from LAX and not Burbank as stated above. The shuttle from the airport was terrible. As instructed, I told the bus driver I had to go to the Rental Depot. He acknowledged my request but failed to notify me. So when the bus got to the last stop and I learned I missed mine, I had to wait for 10 minutes or so for the bus to do the entire route again. Then once you're at the depot you need to call Allied Economy to come pick you up. Allied Economy only had two people working the desk so I had to wait about 20 minutes before it was my turn. I just noticed the fine print, that you reserve the right not to post this review, so I guess there is no need for me to continue because you probably won't print it. In short, don't use this service. I'll post it on Yelp.

Not sure if that’s true but it made my one day rental a ridiculous price. Drop off location in OC was a bit tough to find, being not at all well marked.

We took a LYFT from the airport to the car rental facility for $30. When we got to the car rental facility there was a note on the door saying that office is closed and to go to the office at the airport. We spent another $30 for transport BACK to the airport to pick up the car. The total was twice what my reservation was priced at. The man at the desk hardly spoke English and he did not understand what the problem was. VERY VERY POOR EXPERIENCE WOULD NEVER GO BACK

Great car and service, smelly perfumed cleaning solutionPositiv: The service and location were both great. The car was new and got great gas mileage. We loved the video footage of the inspection and the convenience of there website and billing. Negativ: There was an incredibly strong, perfume type of cleaning smell. We had to drive with the windows down or it would cause headaches. It was so strong, you could smell the overpowering solution through the trunk while standing behind the car.
Great Car Positiv: I like that fact that, to my surprise, I received a Toyota (which was/is a gas saver). The car drove very smoothly. No issues or problem. The service agents were kind, all throughout my check in, rental car pick up, and return. Negativ: No issues whatsoever

After 35 minutes of waiting, I was starting to get frustrated, especially since one employee simply stood behind the desk but did nothing. When it was finally my turn, they told me the card system was down, so they'd have to write down my card number and cvv code and run it later. Sorry, but that's the key to credit card fraud. It would have been courteous for the them to say to the people waiting in line "hey sorry for the delay our card machine is down." I noped out, went to another agency and had a car in about 10 minutes. Won't ever go back to Payless again.

2. you reserve a car, but they won't hold the car for you. i would rather prefer to pay for car and be sure that car is there waiting for me ( i was told that so the car reservations are not paid, they give the cars out and if they are sold out then they are sold out. whats the point of reservation if the car is not on hold and you pay almost triple price then promised.
3. car was fairly dirty, especially some sticky stuff spilled between 2 seats , probably some juice that had to clean myself.
4. was charged for insurance, though when rep asked i said i don't need it because my insurance covers it and i have additional rent a car insurance from american express that i'm paying with.
5. was charged for gas, though returned the car with full tank, they promised that will remove the charge.
6. when presented the contract, rep said that i'm initialing for tickets if i get, gas if i bring it empty,toll roads if i use, but never brought to my attention that price was changed from $84.42 to $210.81 and i initialed and signed the contract without checking it and the main reason was that i walked in with black messy hand from escalator handle leading to office and i was trying not to touch anything till i wash my hands.
so on one hand i accept my stupidity of signing the contract without reading it, but on other hand why would someone put on table $210 contract instead of promised $84 and not even mention it?

Quick pick upPositiv: Easy to get easy to drop off. Negativ: Don't want to own Ford Focus. Poor pickup but cheap price
Positiv: The car was ready to go once we had our paperwork, and the return process was very smooth. Negativ: We had to wait for the employee working the counter to return - about 10 minutes while we stood there waiting for some help. When he came back (from lunch, it appeared) he didn't even acknowledge our wait for him. Even a quick 'sorry about the wait' would have been appreciated.
Positiv: Worse service. Worse rental company
Positiv: Very easy quick pickup with very minimal discussion of insurance and not much paperwork.Negativ: Car seemed to be having a minor mechanical problem- it shuddered a bit. Had 33,000 miles on it. It didn't cause any problems for me though.
Negativ: Horrible everything. Never rent from Thrifty again.
Negativ: My rental was not available and the lady that is inside that small booth said that even if you made a reservation it didn't assure you the vehicle to be available!!!!!! I mean seriously???? Months in advanced and had to get something else last minute Thanks a lot Thrifty and Kayak you guys got us stuck at the Airport
Poor ServiceNegativ: We made our reservation months in advance, when we arrived they had no vehicle for us. None, waited for over 2 hours so they can figure out if they could obtain a car from another co. terrible terrible service!
Positiv: EASY, EASY, EASY.... Found the deal, made the reservation. Free cancelation. Didn't have to pay up front and the PRICE WAS EXCELLENT. Car performed as it was required and got great gas mileage. I'll use this service again and again. Negativ: Of course, one cannot change their pick up or drop off times without HUGE increases but .... that won't stop me from renting again.
Roadside Service Never RespondedNegativ: We did not know that if you leave the car running (on a hot day with the AC running) it automatically locks after a minute or two. We called and were told that roadside service would respond in an hour. 3 hours later, after calling back and contacting roadside service twice, no one came to let us into the car. We had to call our credit card service and pay $59 to get someone to come out in 30 minutes and immediately unlock the car.
Negativ: My car was not ready when I got there
The car had problems - and it was MY responsibility???Positiv: not much.Negativ: The car has problems, and they wanted ME to pay for towing it! (Car wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear). Obviously a faulty car, yet because I didn't buy their insurance, I was supposed to pay for having it towed to their location? Which by the way, NONE of their local locations would help. I had to take it back to the airport, drove it in second gear the whole way.
Positiv: The car was amazing! Amazing price! Will rent from you from here on out.
Reliable but not fancy Positiv: Taking the car out and returning it went smoothly.Negativ: I would recommend renting from Thrifty.
Negativ: I didn't like that there was no one at the drop off and I had to catch a flight. I don't like feeling that someone could somehow take the car and I was responsible
Positiv: The car itself was comfortable. Black on black was very nice. Needed cleaning on the outside.Negativ: There is a discrepancy in what is presented when I called and the actual price when you arrive at rental office. I believe I paid too much for what I received.
The attitude of the representative on site was initially kind of funky, but ended on a good note. It was Okay in Burbank, coulsd have been much better if everyone says the same thing price wise.
