This company scams its customersNegativ: Also ended up paying x4 the original price because of "mandatory insurance" and for coming in 15 mins after they reopened from siesta. They do NOT give you everything in yout language as promise, nor do they give you a copy of your rental agreement
Quick reservation, No carsPositiv: Nothing. Negativ: I made a confirmed reservation, showed up at the Avis counter to find they had no cars. I was going to Raleigh and had to get a friend to drive me the hour and a half drive. Would have been helpful to know there were no cars prior to going to the counter. No offer to help from the counter personnel.
Rip-off artistsNegativ: Rip-off artists. I will spare this forum the entire story, because who cares, but be very very careful with the employees at Salerno's Hertz location. I imagine there's some under-the-table payment for collecting "damage" to cars. This was a really terrible experience that could certainly ruin one's vacation. Part of the car exterior was dirty and these guys marked "new damage" after telling me it was all fine. Fortunately, I had an Italian friend meet me in Salerno. Without him I would have had no idea that they were trying to rip me off and I wouldn't even know to dispute the charges via my credit card company.
Very flexiblePositiv: We made a mistake about the closing time of the local Hertz office in Italy, but Hertz was extremely accommodating about returning to an office in a nearby city.
Call center was very professional and always helpful. Cannot recommend this service enough.
Also did a wonderful job providing a child's seat after our airline lost our car seat.
Return Location closedPositiv: Car, a Fiat, was fine. Negativ: Had some difficulty using the gas pump; their are not attendants. So the car was returned just less than full. I was told that I had to pay to fill the tank. Fine, that was said upfront. Was was not said upfront was that there would be a service charge for putting gasoline into the tank. It's the million tiny cuts that bleed you out.
Tried to return the car on a Sunday. The office was shuttered. An actual metal shutter was pulled down over the store front. No hours of operation posted. Clerk ignored you until he was ready to assist you.
Non parlare italiano? Nessun problema!Positiv: Having a limited Italian vocabulary when it comes to making a business transaction such as this always stresses me out but the manager, Matteo De Donato spoke English very well and made the process very easy and pleasant. He was very clear on what the charges would be, reviewing each line item on the invoice. The location of the Hertz office is conveniently located just steps away from the train terminal and bus stop. All in all, an excellent experience.
Negativ: What I didn't like was having to return the car! ☺ It was so much fun to drive! There's not hi ingredients like the feeling of dtiving the Amalfi Coast!
