Overall Very GoodPositiv: Pick up & Drop off was as near perfect as possible. Negativ: I was not thrilled with the vehicle but that was NOT Alamo's fault. It was the make and model of the pickup. (I would not buy this truck). I think the exit of lot could be marked better but it was not horrible.

It fit the need!Positiv: Nice sized SUV (Ford Escape) given I was hauling my 1-year-old around along with several others. The experience with Alamo was very nice as they got me in and out quickly which I cannot say enough positive things about given I was lugging a baby, car seat, pack n' play, backpack, and diaper bag all by myself.Negativ: Nothing really. GPS built-in would have been nice but my smartphone wedged near the dash did the trick.
Really bad customer service at the front deskPositiv: Pick up and drop off were really quick. Negativ: The lady at front desk provided a really bad customer service. She had earphone on one side while talking with me. She really did not want to work at all. I have never confronted this level of bad customer service.
Easy check-out and check-inPositiv: Prompt service and friendly van drivers to and from STL to Alamo lot. I reserved a "mystery" car at a good price and got a mini Chevy SUV. Not the most comfortable ride, but overall nicer than expected.Negativ: No driver's manual included in the car.
Rental vehicle was good, customer service fell shoPositiv: Pick up & drop off were quick and easy. The vehicle was clean and perfect for us. Shuttle drivers were friendly. Negativ: Customer service at the front counter was not what I expected. Agents didn't acknowledge me and my sister when we entered the building and there were no other customers. When we finally got helped and asked for clarification we felt we were bothering them. We left with a bad feeling.
Negativ: No car ready when i got there.
Windy WalkPositiv: Customer Service was pleasant. Car was washed and clean. Negativ: Customer Service was good until I was asked if I was a Muslim all because I was wearing a bow tie. I don't believe that she was being racist. But she was a bit uncouth. Then I had to walk across the parking lot in the blistering wind to select my car. Fix how customers receive their cars immediately. I waited 15 to get my car. Drop off location was a bit confusing to find the exact location to drop off car.
They truly tried .Positiv: We came in on Christmas Day and there was a shortage of cars with flights delayed and rerouted passengers. So their systems were skewed with last minute changes. They worked so hard and were honestly trying to do their best to please so many frustrated customers. We appreciated their efforts through the hectic process and pleased that they were able to provide a car for us through all their confusion.
Positiv: Alamo is always easy to work with and when I forgot to grab my jacket out of the back seat they contacted me right away to confirm which address they should ship it to...Negativ: The car was a last minute rental due to a flight cancellation resulting in travel changes, and was a little pricey. Car was nice but could have been cleaner...I ended up buying an air freshener!
Couldn't rentPositiv: We liked the price.Negativ: We were not told we needed a credit card to rent a one-way car when we made the reservation online. Also KAYAK charged us 18 dollars for accident protection, and then Alamo asked for the same charge.
Nobody was there! No attendant for 20min+ Positiv: Nothing. Horrible service.Negativ: There was no attendant for 25 minutes at this location. They also denied renting a vehicle to me after I had called to make sure they accept a debit card. Worse experience. Ended up having to take a flight. I will never rent or recommend Avis -particularly this location 2925 Olive street, saint Louis MO.

a little slow...but flexiblePositiv: I made a reservation without realizing I it was for a location other than the international airport location where I was arriving. It took a long time to get to the desk upon arrival. Once I got to the desk, I found out my mistake. To complicate matters, it was on Thursday before the Easter weekend. The other location was 30 minutes or so away. The rental agent gave me the price for a new reservation at the airport--but it was almost double the price of my reservation. After several minutes and a final request to see if the rental agent could do ANYTHING to help me, he found a rate that was $20 higher than my original reservation. I really appreciated that!!! Sometimes slower is okay. Thank you!Negativ: If I could have gotten through the process faster, I could have spent more time seeing St. Louis...but as mentioned...I made the reservation mistake and Avis/Budget helped me out.
First class service. Positiv: Friendly service in and out. Great car...clean, well maintained, up to date. Negativ: Nothing.
Long lines and very disorganizedPositiv: My car was not ready/available so they upgraded me to the next class to reduce my wait (I had a 2.5 hour drive and it was late at night)Negativ: Total chaos at the counter with long lines and slow response. Likewise, there was a delay when leaving the lot (10-15 minutes may not sound like a problem but when it's 10 pm all I want to do is get out of there with minimal wait and there is no good reason it should take more than a couple of minutes to show someone a contract and drive away).
Also, when I turned the car in they apparently did not charge me correctly (based on the original agreement through Kayak) and I suspect I will waste 10-15 more minutes on the phone trying to get this corrected. Isn't AVIS in the car rental business (how difficult is this)?
Positiv: Staff in St Louis were quick and professional even though there was a line out the door due to several cancelled flights that day. Price was exactly as quoted on Kayak.

The driver of the shuttle insisted on putting my bags on board & taking them off. Poor Return Service Positiv: Price was good. Negativ: The place was supposed to open at 6 a.m. on that Sunday morning. The two workers arrives AT 6 a.m. to open. There was no sense of urgency and I had a 7:10 a.m. flight to catch.
Closes at midnight and doesn't bather to tell you. Negativ: They knew when my flight was and didn't bother to tell me that they closed five minutes after I landed. I ended up last minute booking with Budget and saved $100.
Positiv: The staff was friendly and put a smile on my face both picking up my car and dropping it off.Negativ: The person who rented my car previous to me smoked in it so it took a day for that smell to leave.

Negativ: My trip was due to my father's sudden decline in health. He died while I was there, and I was unable to return the rental car at the time it was due. They agreed to allow me to keep the car until the following day but charged a MUCH higher rate to keep the car until the following day.

Issue with Dollar at the St. Louis airportPositiv: nothingNegativ: This is the 2nd time I have rented from Dollar in the past couple of months in St. Louis and will never do it again. First they always try to offer an upgrade which looks like a good deal on the surface. But when you probe a bit further it ends up being 50-75% higher than the good price I received when renting the car on your site. Then they offered me the insurance coverage. When I told them my insurance provider covered me in a rental the agent asked how much my deductible was on the policy. I told the her it was a $1,000. She explained that if I paid an additional $9 it would cover the deductible. I commented and said that sounded like a good deal and took the extra coverage only to find out when she printed the invoice for me to sign it was $9 per day. I had an early flight when returning the car. I arrived at the Dollar lot to find they were closed. There were instructions on the gate that said to park the car in a commercial lot across the street, put the keys in a drop box and a shuttle would take me to the airport and a $9 charge would automatically be charged to my credit card. Well there was not drop box to be found. Fortunately the shuttle driver said she would see to it the keys were turned in to Dollar. I had no choice but to leave it with her so hopefully the keys made it back to Dollar. Another couple was returning their car at the same time and were equally confused about the whole process. There was not not a single sign in the area that directed us to where the Dollar lot was located. Fortunately I was somewhat familiar with the area and figured out where it was after driving around for 30 minutes looping between the airport terminal and Dollar's lot. You should take this car company off your program.
Negativ: I went in with a reservation for around $50 dollars and ended up getting charged $137. For one day!
I won't be using Dollar again.

Poor TreatmentNegativ: I was treat very poorly. I was asked to provide to two references, after I them my bank card, drives lic, proof of comprehensive Insurance and I rent cars all over US and EUROPE. I have never experienced this type of treatment and I am a local business man.
Horrible, need my money back Positiv: The enterprise that kayak selected to use was not the same location that the airport takes you to with their shuttle. Therefore I had to rent a completely different car from the airport enterprise or try to figure out some way to get 40 minutes away where the reservation was. Kayak should know that the airport shuttle does not go to the location that was selected and that it would be extremely difficult to get there without knowing a lot about that area. I didn't get to use my kayak reservation and because of kayak I had to rent 2 cars essentially and only used one. Please don't waste my money and refund my reservation.

Super friendly, amiable and interesting! Car was good, clean and relatively comfortable. Got great MPG.Negativ: "Maintenance reqd" light came on while driving through dense fog in the mountains. Was not near a place where I could pull off at the time, so was a little worrisome until I was able to get somewhere that I was able to establish that it was apparently nothing more than scheduled upcoming service.
Friendly staff, especially those who picked me offPositiv: Comfort, performance and gas mileage of the car I rented. Employees were friendly, professional, and got me in and out quickly and efficiently. Negativ: "maintenance required" light came on while driving through the Ozarks. Sort of freaked me out until I managed to pull over and look up what it meant in the manual. Turned out to be no big deal, but sort of disconcerting when it happens while driving through heavy fog in the mountains.
Positiv: The ease of picking up the car and dropping it off. The agents were very nice and helpful.Negativ: The cost of the added insurance. I know this is an option but I paid $40 for the car and $60 for the insurance! I did not like that part.

Positiv: The car itself and the dropoff were okay.Negativ: The pickup had a major problem. When I ordered the car I chose airport pickup and I even called to confirm this. When arriving the car was not at the airport but at another Hertz location. I had to cancel the original booking and book again for double the price. Terrible service especially since I talked to a Hertz representative the night before that confirmed again and again that my car was at the airport.
I am still waiting for my original payment to be reimbursed.

I was redirected to booking.com twice and was told to provide a code and a pin. Kayak is who I booked this through and they don’t give out that kind of code and pin and there was no other way to retrieve my details. I was isikted several time by the two customer service reps. Apparently hertz has been experience the issue I went through with kayak a lot lately and the really have no way to rectify problems that kayak created. So never again, kayak and booking.com lost me

After taking the shuttle and attempting to check in I was informed that the car was at a different location 25 minutes away. The check in person informed me that to change it rates would be five times higher. After calling hertz customer service which is indicated on the confirmation, I was told that I shouldn't have ran it through a discount service. After attempting to obtain help them in for me I should call a cab to go to the other place Ultimately I used Lyft and $45 later I was greeted with some excellent customer service at the Lindbergh location. They arranged for a return to the airport on the backside of my trip and diligently worked to find a vehicle that would serve me
Watch bait and switch with locationsPositiv: Hertz has great service as far as timely shuttles, good cars and friendly employees.Negativ: I checked several times to make sure the rental was at the airport. Why would anyone flying in want to rent a car a location other than the airport. When I got there I was advised I had rented a car in South Saint Louis instead of the airport and ended up paying double.
Be very careful with these online reservations. I thought I was but apparently not.

A terrible experienceNegativ: The fact that I was charged double the quoted and reserved amount because I was told my reservation had been cancelled. Then the vehicle I was provided had a mechanical failure and I was unable to use it for 3 days til a replacement was provided.
Negativ: They were very rude at the Lambert airport location in St Louis. And cheated me by charging me multiple times of the per day rate for the one day extension that I had taken. Also, refused to give me AAA discount.

Negativ: It took a long time to get picked up at the airport. It was about 8:30pm and we would see other rental car shuttles come by two or three times. I would guess it was about 30 minutes to get picked up.
